can we enhance our attack strenght taking up weapons from the NPC we defeat in the fields?

Not exactly.

By fighting in the forest you gain gold, which can be used to purchase weapons.

There is a relatively new special event in the forest - a smith who can be hired to improve your weapons.

The player killing is done so that little permanent harm is done to the person killed - they lose a small amount of experience and you gain any gold they carry. However, in the interests of game balance you cannot pick up their weapons or gems.
