I would like to see an ability to NAME your horse, either by purchasing with gems in the stables or by using donation points in the Lodge. Just a silly notion of mine that doesn't add anything to the game other than a little flavor, but I'm rather partial to the stallion I've had over the last 33 dragon kills and I think he deserves a name. ;)

Yeah thats a great idea, I like the lodge points thing for that.

Naming your creatures is a "to be added to the Lodge" item on the list.

Renaming has 0 impact on the game, and it is a perfect bonus for donations/referrals.

I would also like Mares, since they are much better horses than Stallions or Geldings.

Well... you can 'name' your creature by just calling it something repeatedly (in your bio etc.) like Kether does. The actual ability to properly name your mount would be nice for those who give money to the game.

One thing about mounts which I would like to see would be type-specific encounters i.e. encounters that you can only have with that type of mount. It would make a Wyvern feel more different that an uber-horse if you were told that you flew somewhere or something...

That actually wouldn't be all that difficult to do (assuming knowledge of PHP). You'd just have to create a large amount of specials, and each would check for a specific mount, and if it fails, it looks again.
Perhaps having one special that if it occurs, checks for the mount, and then loads a mount-specific special.
'Tis a good idea, IMHO.

Or rather then creating a series of creature specific specials why not just a pair of them - one for people with Phoenixes (something like a volcanic pyre) and one for people with Wyverns (something like wyvern cliffs). Basically you'd get the intro for the special the same regardless, but you wouldn't be allowed to do anything more with the special unless you had the right creature for the task...

No, don't take my poor brethren! Leave the Phoenii alone!

Ok, about mounts:

1. The mount editor has a lot of fields - lots of stuff to consider.

2. Making mounts different enough, worthwhile, and balanced is not easy.

3. I've been a bit leary of adding more mounts since the things that would benefit a high level/dk player completely overpower a low level player after a dk, especially in the "regular" forest.

The mounts are all tuned for the BETA forest. When the older forest goes away, we'll consider more mounts.

Umm.... I was thinking more along the lines of a special place with good things for people with the top familiar or the top mount... I wouldn't ever want to take away the phoenix away, but if you want something neat for wyverns, phoenixes should deserve the same level of respect...

It wouldn't be fair to just come up with specials for the wyvern or phoenix. Some people opt for other critter companions for their own reasons, so they'd be left out simply because they didn't opt for the most expensive companion.
If there wasn't a wyvern, I'd probably have a hellhound, just because it fits with the "flavor of my character", even though I could easily (well, after a bit) afford a phoenix.

I'm not saying you'd have to do an event for each specific critter. Maybe one for pony or warhorse or stallion, one for the birds perhaps. The 1337 mounts could have an individual event catered to them, though...a small bonus for having invested a larger amount.

So the grassy field doesn't count?

Each mount does have two different recharge messages (partial and full).

I worked hard on them... *sniff*

Haha, stop crying JCP! Everyone knows that even the best idea can be improved. Example: this game itself.

To continue JCP's idea, what about a menu to recharge your mount? (very like the Dark Horse Tavern, or instead the Tavern)

Personally I love when I fall in the special event of "Grassy Field" and my phoenix comes alive again (as every good phoenix must do BTW). I would pay even 3 turns to have my mount refilled.

What about this?[/i]

See, noone believes me, the Phoenix rocks all. ;> I think maybe an option in the Darkhorse to 'feed' your mount one way or another, would be cool, but I would make massive gold abuse out of it very quickly. The gold-saving capabilites of the higher creatures are very worth the loss of a turn or two, as Feah has stated.
The Grassy Field, annoying as it may be in it's timing, is a well balanced way to get an occasional recharge. (Though with more and more events, each of them are seen less, I havn't seen the field in 3 weeks at least.)

On the dragoncat server, you can pay to feed your horse (once per game day) in the stables to recharge them. Cost is based on character level. I really like that new feature.

That option is available in the code, but I believe is not enabled (either by desire, or by laziness :)) on the central server or the alpha server.

Since it only allows one feed per day (by my design), I decided to turn it on. So far it doesn't seem to be prone to abuse. However, I also have slightly higher chances for gem and gold and mount loss in the goldmine event.

[And I think there need to be more ways that mounts can be damaged or destroyed and gems lost, so do expect some 'bad' specials over the next couple weeks -- fair warning folks and some of these won't be ones you can avoid like you can avoid the mines!!]

Now weren't you the one arguing for a full reset??? :) And how d'ye think Smokey would live through that, eh?? :)

But.. I wouldn't remember Smokey. It'd be an entirely new game. ;)

Plus, he wouldn't be dead. He'd just be at the stables, waiting for me to purchase him again. hehe

There's an option in game settings for feed? You need to let me know about these things....

Option's turned on now. But I'm not announcing it. If they don't care enough to read the forums, then tough. (for a little while anyway)

And I certainly agree with negative effects.

I think that having a wyvern should grant access to a different area other than the Dark Horse Tavern. Maybe Wyverns could go to Wyvern's Keep and different games could be there.
Just a suggestion, nothing more.

I'm very, very glad to hear this news. It took me a while to find the right place anyway :)

However, in order to be fair, my opinion is that feed my "kind of mount" (see it in my Bio) is extremely cheap. I'm sure that the gains in golds will be at least 5-10 times the cost of feeding, plus the added EXP I'll earn. So, now the game is deep unbalanced unless other mounts are as amazing as "kind of mount" are.

I like the new feature of feeding the mounts, but I have to agree it is very inexpensive... Maybe the price should be doubled or tripled or cost gems or something.

Level 1-5: 1 gem
Level 6-10: 2 gems
Level 11-15: 3 gems

Gems are permanent, and are themselves necessary to buy most mounts... they are also worth much more than what an average day of forest fights will give you... Thus even with the higher mounts, they would be too steep a price.
Besides, you can only recharge your mount once a day.
