This being the official forums, this is the first time some people from the three official sites are getting to know one another.

So, here's your chance to say hello and see who's playing what.

The Central Server (Beta Server), LotGD.net
These three servers share the pre-release code (to varying degrees), but not the same databases for characters, creatures, mounts, etc.

I'm sure we have some other servers represented as well, but we won't know unless you tell us. :)

Sourceforge was/is the central server.

The Central Server used to be hosted at Sourceforge - for free. Then they looked at the bandwidth costs and asked MightyE to find another host, which is where Talesin and his generosity come in to set up lotgd.net.

I play on the Central server and have newly registered on the Draconcat one. Anyway, I'll most probably register onto the development server too but not this week.

I also play on another server but there not many players there and it gets really monotonous. I reckon I was one of their first players which means I'm also one of the biggest most titled and it's really no fun anymore so I'm basically playing there just once every two weeks now.

I am on all three main servers, and have achieved Godhood on each. I'm now the top player (and admin) on alpha, but Booger will likely pass me in the Hall of Fame one of these days. He's pretty darn persistent.

It's a fast server, with loads of cute mods and many races. And I've got a couple of friends who also use it. But the reason I originally began to use it is because it has 2 hour game-days which suits me fine since I'm more of a 5 hours-a-night-a-couple-of-times-a-week player than able to log in regularly...

They have a one character per player rule, and there are 4 Game Days per RLD with 12 base forest fights each day, and people are generally quite friendly.

I've got to represent (in the official list) all three servers which I have an account on. I don't play MightyE or Kendaer's servers nearly as much as Central, but I try to at least save my char from deletion and advance on occasion. Unofficially, I have been introduced to a server run by Selekta (the second server I play daily) and a whole skew of others that I don't play. When you set primarily at a desk working on Network Analysis, account/username/password management, network access and resource/account billing, and tech support on the side, you *must* have something for the downtime and also to keep you sane while being nice to all the lusers and their ID10T errors! :D

It's a fairly new server where you can get in on the ground floor. I used to play on 2-3 different servers but they stopped working at some moment, and now I have set up online the Moody Cat LoGD server (http://logd.moody-cat.com) and I know it's working allways. All modules from the installation are active, and a day lasts 4 hours, so you don't have to wait too long to play again. Not too many players still, but since it's been set up 7 days ago, it's okay.

I actually started playing LoGD a couple of years ago when I stumbled upon it from another online game Lords of Legend.

I started on the TradeLair server as UranielSener, I later got two aliases MrDamienFoxx and LizDiggory.

When Perdition, a player on that server started his own site, http://planeshift.co.uk, I got my UranielSener stats transfered to that site, as I was a Stewardess on TradeLair. Sometime later I had my name changed by the Admin to Lizzy.

Recently I finally reached Goddess only to find out that today the Planeshift server has been closed by Perdition. :evil:

So I decided to join the central server, and I am only a level one Sheperdess Lizzy so far.

Also I am looking for other servers that might be fun to play on.

I started on Planet A&D's server http://www.planetadnd.com/games/logd/home.php? in late July 2004 but got bored after a short time and came to Central where I actually discovered that the core code had multiple towns (!) and options for five and ten rounds (!!). Since then, the code back in PAD&D's server just looked dated and I never turned back.
I didn't expected to stay on this game as long as I have; I honestly thought I'd start playing and quit in a couple of months. When I started off I never RPed and I spent more time on AdventureQuest than LotGD, leading to a farmiehood that lasted almost three months.

I'm currently an absentee admin on Selekta's, and have various accounts on various servers around the internet that I don't take good care of.

I've played exactly 13 different servers, my first one was Central, and I've gotten at least 1 DK on each of the 13, can I just say that Central has by far surpassed all the others, it's just got more people and is a lot easier going with the 2 game days a day thing, it's simply a perfect set up.

Well...I've been playing LoTGD for about two years now.
Can't exactly remember the first site I went to, but the next was LoTGDRealms, and from there I joined others. I have played on about 10 other sites altogether, and the majority of them were great.
I now run my own site, and try to play some of the others that I joined.
It's been fun so far, and hopefully things will get better.

so now i have found the original LOTGD from the wiki entry, and i'm on the Arwen island with the fairy that heals you. so hope to play this one, it looks the best user friendly one.

Ganesh, that sounds like Robert's server at maddrio.samuraisushi.net that i had a character on for a while. i liked it. yes, if you get below 5 turns you get a character on the village main page (X i think, or Z) that allows you to start a new day. i really enjoyed playing there until i got to the lvl 18 dragons. yes there were 2 and i couldn't beat the second one, after like 5 tries, and i didn't see a way i could beat it... so i let my character expire.

DK's are supposed to take that long, well if you just started anyway, as I read in that server you play on your really not ment to have that many days, it's not against the rules or anything but no one really recommends having that many

It depends on how many dragonkills you have, too. A new character may take a week or two - maybe longer - to kill the dragon. If I really put my mind to it, I can knock two away per calendar day. That's the problem, though. I'm way too lazy to do that! :P

I'm from there too! Yeah, it has lots of cool names. The official one is MightyE's Classic Server, but you could also call it the Starship Enterprise Deluxe Edition 4000 Platinum, and no one would care! The people are cool there! Try it out!

...just in case this thread is still going, i suppose i'll put in my two cents and mention that i am Grim Jestor from MightyE's Classic Server (that is what it says on the login page, anyway... so central then, i suppose)

i've tried starting characters on other servers, but i either found them entirely too complicated, unfinished, or unpopulated. i know i've joined very late in the game, and my opinion does not count, but i really do not believe that any server out their except classic with the exception of servers possibly run by famous admins from classic have ever been or will ever be a success.

and i don't like the tournament sites. don't understand the blasted things, and don't really see the point either. there you have it, and now i'm gone.

There's no classic admin, but I've played awhile on a server before it disappeared. And now I've decided to come up with my own server!

There's only mainly basic stuff, because I'm wary of adding too many modules at one go. (The previous server I played had a few exploits because of some modules)
I'm adding stuff slowly, to observe if they are stable before adding others.

The players are extremely helpful in reporting bugs.
Someone even PM a code to fix a bug (and it works)! :cool:

...terribly sorry, sir, for i have already done both of the things which you would rather i not-- the first, badmouthing dragoncat, and doing the same to mobile weapons. maybe i should make myself more clear, for i am bereft of the kind of knowledge or skill it would take to set up a server, be it more like the original or a clever mod, and as such, my opinion is therefore worthless. because of my extreme enjoyment of central server, i measure any other server i try against a very high standard, and demand things probably impossible without taking each new server on its own merits, so there's another reason to ignore my one-sided commentary and go on as if nothing had happened. thanks for the url, though...

I began on the Classic server. Eventually getting bored with it I found the great list of servers, by chance I came upon http://www.ageofdragonlegends.com/home.php? (or, for those interested in using my referrer link: http://ageofdragonlegends.com/referral.php?r=Incanus).

I feel very lucky that I found it, I enjoy it a great deal. 1 hour game days, lots of ways to make lots of gold and gems, plenty of extra features, and tons of villiages, races, and specialties.
Not nearly as many players as the Central server, which is way too crowded for my tastes, the conversation in this game is often more laid back and my speed - accompanied by the occasional nonsense of which I contribute my fair share. Most are nice and fun-loving.
Only downside is it's a bit of a squeeze each month to reach its $200 donation goal, never sure if it's going to make it (and losing it would be a shame).

I've tried several other servers before and since and none of them were nearly as good as this or the Central server, in my opinion.

I started on MightyE's Central server, then went exploring the links page one day after running out of turns and ended up on Gizbug and then Kitsune Crossing. So I play there when I have no more turns on Central. Only problem is, RL doesn't give me much time to play sadly. One of these days my characters will expire. :(

I first encountered LotGD through an IRC channel around 14 months ago, ran by Aelia/Aeriswind. I played for about 3 months before the admin lost interest, and closed the server down. By that time, I had over 100 DKs and was well in truly hooked. From there, I began running my own server (which has come a long way in a year, with ~50 original modules by yours truly and hundreds of other modifications, but is a constant work in progress). I've made accounts on Central and DragonPrime before, but didn't play very much before they expired. Other places I've been : Castle Seige, Aelia's new server, Dark Throne, to name a few. While I respect tradtion, I do get more attracted to customised servers and is interested to see what what they can offer (more than just textual modifications).
