0.98 is still kindof in development, which comes in chunks anyway as we see what needs to be done. I know of at least one major re-write, an alteration to the DB tabling, and maybe a feature or two. ;>

Being the holiday, MightyE is spending time elsewhere for the moment. So the larger codework is on hold untill at least New Year, but I would suspect, shortly afterward, around the following two weeks.

Mind you, I'm not an official word on this, either. Kendaer, may have a more accurate answer. I'm just estimating based on what I last heard from MightyE.

No, it won't be within the first two weeks of new year. Both MightyE and myself are of the opinion that code gets released when it's 'ready'. There is at least one major feature which MightyE and I want to get into the next release and I know we haven't really started working on it yet. Now it might be we'll decide to push that off for a while (but I don't know) however, that decision will not be made at all until I have time to talk to MightyE.

We also have some license issues which we want to address before we release 0.9.8, so that people cannot do (or continue to do) as they have done and make private and proprietary changes to the code without giving anything back to the game. The GPL unfortunately only covers the case of binary distribution. That doesn't really cover this case so well.
