How about something on the login page, where you can check if you're alive before you log on?
This would be handy if you've been killed in that day already, so you don't log on and run the chance of getting killed again. I know I myself like to pop on from time to time and see whats going on, even though I have no turns yet, and it really bites when you end up dying three times in a game day, because every time you log off, someone kills you again.

Uh... if you click "List Warriors" from the login page, doesn't it show your character as being dead?

If it isn't I would say there is something fundamentally wrong with the list. :)

Go into preferences and have the game forward events to your email. Check your email - if there are no "You've been killed" messages, you're probably ok. I say probably, because there can be a delay in delivery...

Rax: Yeah, I suppose it could, but on server where there are dozens of pages of characters (like lotgd.net), that could be like finding a needle in a haystack.

Mortimer: I get way too much spam mail, and I'd prefer to not have my inbox even more filled up with lotgd status mails. ;)

There are already two good ways to tell if you are dead yet (player list and email notifications). I have no trouble using either of them. (Indeed, I've gotten the "death" email before it's even shown up on the Daily News.)
