After being killed in the Inn, I wouldn't think I'd be attackable anymore, but apparantly I was able to be attacked TWICE again, winning one and losing the other.
Also odd...when I logged on several hours after the last fight occurred, the message did not appear in my inbox until AFTER I had read the first two messages. I notice this because I saw the first message saying that I had won gold, but after both of the first two fight messages and going to the village, I noticed that I didn't have any gold in hand, but then saw a new message in my inbox.

Unless Gladiator Chakaba spent four or five hours on the PvP fight screen and just happened to finally finish me off while I was reading mail, this sounds like a bug to me.

Gladiator Phantom attacked you in The Inn with his Longsword with Gold-plated Hilt, and defeated you!

You noticed he had an initial hp of 75 and just before you died he had 4 remaining.

As a result, you lost 1% of your experience (approximately 57 points), and 0 gold. They also received 2400 in bounty gold.

Don't you think it's time for some revenge?

Gladiator Chakaba attacked you in The Inn with his Wolfmaster's Longsword, and defeated you!

You noticed he had an initial hp of 103 and just before you died he had 46 remaining.

As a result, you lost 1% of your experience (approximately 73 points), and 322 gold.

If you log in after being killed PvP you reset your character to alive and killable again. It sounds like this is what happened.

If you are in the process of being PvPed when you log on the PvP battle still continues. It may be a few minutes before the PvP is finished, so you won't see the "killed" or "successful" message until awhile after you logged in (until the PvP that was started prior to your logging in is actually over.)

Also, if a PvP battle is started and the PvPer loses connection or times out, that PvP is still in process. It will be completed when the person logs back in, which could be hours or days later.

Lady Phoenix:

But:

Killed at 1:52
Won a fight at 21:09
Killed at 21:39

With only twenty minutes between fight #2 and #3, I could see how attacker #3 might have started the attack, lost connection...attacker #2 then started and lost the fight, followed by attacker #2 reconnecting and finishing me off. But I was already dead at 1:52...and I'm skeptical that both #2 and #3 were initiated before 1:52 and then finished 19 hours later.

And...even if we do suppose that that really is what happened...does the code really allow for three concurrent PvP fights on one player?

>if a PvP battle is started and the PvPer loses connection
>or times out, that PvP is still in process. It will be completed
>when the person logs back in, which could be hours or days later.

And...if that person happens to be on the way from the bank to the weapons store with all of their gold when the attacker reconnects and finishes the fight, then the defender would lose all of their gold, even though it was not on their person when the fight was started.

That sounds like a bug to me.

No, the game takes a snapshot of what you had that the beginning of the fight. You lose XP and gold based on what you had at that moment in time. So if you were in the Inn and attacked with 20 gold and 2500xp and then the attacker disconnected and came back a game day or two later when you had 15000 xp and NO gold on you, they'd get the xp and the gold that they would have if they'd finished their fight in a few minutes and you'll lose your xp the same way. (I'm not sure how the gold works on that, if the gold just creates out of ether if you have nothing on you at the time.) The end fight is based solely on what you had when the fight started.

I still believe you probably logged in between that first death and the second battle, resetting your life to "alive and killable." As for the time between the next two battles, it takes about 10 minutes for you character to reset from "attacked to recently" so there was plenty of time between start of the second for the battle to have finished and your timer to have reset to "available for PvP" mode.

The game does allow for a player to be attacked in that way, that's why the pvp timeout exists after all. As far as I recall, the game does not create a snapshot of your gold at all, it uses your real gold value at the time, or used to last I checked anyway (this information is months old though, and MightyE recently checked a recent case found by Talesin, so it could be that your gold is now saved with your snapshot of when they initially attacked you.)

I want to say I read somewhere (Maybe the game's FAQ) that it does snapshot your gold as well as xp.

Not to my knowledge. It updates the database live as things occur.
