the 007 movies, Terminator trilogy, Scary movie trilogy, and a whole lot of others, the list is really long!

Evil Dead 2 (http://imdb.com/title/tt0092991/) / Army of Darkness (http://imdb.com/title/tt0106308/). Yes, I consider them one movie.

The City of Lost Children (http://imdb.com/title/tt0112682/) is a really close second, though.

I met my wife while watching that movie, so I would have to agree.

I'd say Mistery Science Theater 3000. Laughed my head off!

The above listing misses the genre Thriller. That's what my favourite movie falls into:

Bound (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0115736/)

This is the movie that the Wachowski-Brothers directed just before they created The Matrix.

Voratus

I've never seen Bound, though I have wanted to. Gina Gershon does special things to me that I really can't talk about and keep it friendly.

Boondock Saints, just plain awesome (R rated though for some weird reason, not really one for the kiddes because of the thoughts it invokes... it's about vigilantes)
favourite scene: both scenes with the rope.

Arlington road / sixth sence are AWESOME if you've never seen them, but no good watching them again.

Very interesting. I haven't seen that movie, but that prompts some very interesting thoughts.

Evil Dead 1, 2, & 3 they are such horribly made horror movies it is hilarious, the first 2 are actualy mad to be scary but tyhere so horid like i said yuo laugh more than yuor scared and the 3rd movie the director just game up and purposely made it funny

(If anyone watches Megas XLR they actual made a robot model of Ash from movie 2 & 3 with the shot gun chain saw combo, and they throw in some quotes its freakign hilarious you have to watch it)

Casablanca. Love that Bogart. "Play it again, Sam."
Blue Hawaii, for that blues song Elvis sang in the jail scene.
Down With Love, starring Ewan McGregor and Rene Zellweger. Nicely done movie, lots of good comedy and injokes from that era in the '60's.
All of Robin Williams' movies, even in the ones where he had bit parts.
The original Seven Samurai film, directed by Akira Kurosawa and starring Toshiro Mifune, among others.
The remake of Zatoichi, by director Takeshi "Beat" Kitano, who also starred in the lead role.
Azumi, featuring Japanese pop singer and actor Aya Ueto.
The Matrix, for opening the door, and The Animatrix for showing what was behind the door. I didn't like the last two because they slowly, and then finally, closed the door.
Ghost In The Shell, because it set the standard for movies like The Matrix long before that came out.
Enter the Dragon. Enough said.
The Village by M. Night Shyamalan, because it made me stop and think.
All of Dakota Fanning's movies. I just can't help but admire her talent and increasing versatility, especially in the flick Hide and Seek.
The first two Addams Family movies with actor Raul Julia. *starts snapping fingers*
Any more that I can think up of, I'll add later.

It's impossible to pick a favorite... but I'll try,

Boondock Saints, just plain awesome
You betcha. Though I find the cat scene to be the funniest.

3. Moulin Rouge
Thank you, so much. It's hard to find other guys who enjoy this movie.

Down With Love
Another good one, though I especially like the sense of fashion.

Of course, everybody's favorites: Star Wars, the Matrix, LotR all make the list, also.

And one of my absolute favorites is 'The 5th Element'

And since Terron listed Disney: Aladdin.

"Take the Money and Run" and every other Woody Allen movie.

And, as for Star Wars EP 3, I........cant express how much I dislike that movie without violating some rule or another....lets just say it makes me mad

You rock, Waugh! I think Braveheart wins out, but I also love Patriot.

I also have to put in a good word for Tombstone, the movie. I have watched it many many times!

Casablanca. Love that Bogart. "Play it again, Sam."

Oh come now. Ilsa never says that, nor does anyone else.

:D

That's my favorite movie ever. Other favorites of mine seem to be popular on this list - Star Wars movies, Toy Story 1 & 2, Boondock Saints, The Big Lebowski, the Aliens movies, LoTR movies, Spaceballs, Strange Brew, Monty Python stuff, old Clint Eastwood westerns (gotta love the man with no name)(OK, and Josey Wales, too)...nothing too out of the ordinary.

Just curious, but why all the love for Star Wars?

KVB
06-29-2005, 06:38 PM
Wow! I can't believe I forgot to mention Caddyshack, but being a caddy myself, I guess there is some appeal there already.....

And, by the way, YurianStonebow mentioned the quote "Play it again Sam", which is also the title of an awesome Woody Allen movie, a spoof on Casablanca.

Just looking over my DVD rack...

Anything by Akira Kurosawa - Seven Samurai is one of the greatest movies ever made. Period. Yojimbo? Superb.
Metropolis (1927, Silent) - I saw this when it was restored and released in a limited run. Was so blown away I went again the next day and almost went again the day after that!
Dawn of the Dead - George Romero's original version. So darn cool.
Airplane - Easily the funniest movie ever (Or is it?). If you hate spoof movies, blame this film.
Monty Python and The Holy Grail - Oddly enough this film was funnier when I was twelve. It's kind of sad to fall out of love with a movie...
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly - The music. Clint Eastwood. The drama. Overlong, but the Western in its pure form.
Road to Perdition - A personal guilty pleasure. Paul Newman is the best, isn't he?
Aguirre, The Wraith of God - A visual, moody film. You might not like it, but you'll remember it.
Good Godzilla Movies - Biggest guilty pleasure. Nuff said.
Of the Star Wars films, The Empire Strikes Back, followed closely by the original Star Wars.

Movies I hate:

The three new Star Wars Movies - Such a big disappointment. I hate George Lucas for forcing us to buy the restored versions of the original films. Biggest travesty ever.

Well, these are the ones I'm willing to watch anytime they are on:

X-Files the movie (of course)

Gone with the Wind
Airplane
All 3 of the Lord of the Rings movies
Star Wars
The War of the Roses
Raiders of the Lost Ark
The Rocky Horror Picture Show
Destination Moon---first movie to try to depict a trip to the moon scientificly..given the state of movie making technology at the time, awesome!
Major League
Hoosiers
Good Morning, Viet Nam
Hondo

Have to rewatch that one. I'm not surprised some smarty pants brought Rashomon up.

I have to admit I was so uncouth as to not be taken by it.

My wife gets all tingly for Gene Kelly, but he's dead, so I don't mind. I happen to love that movie as well, as much for the supporting cast as for the star.

I must have seen The Princess Bride several hundred times now. It has everything!

Haven't gone that far yet, but it is one of the two movies I can quote almost verbatim.

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Best. Movie. Ever.

This is the other one.

And of course, for sheer mastery of film as a medium:

Citizen Kane

There is so much in there that is said with the camera. It's absolutely incredible. It's a great story, too. Kane is definitely my favorite, though not necessarily the one I would watch most often.

Well, my favortie movie ever must be Pulp Fiction. I know, it's no big shock, but that's my fav, and that's what you asked for.

I also like the first two Batman movies. ESPECIALLY the first one. I mean, Nicholson, Keaton, Burton AND Prince in one small package. <3

"Shields". B-)

Other favs are The Mask, Aladdin [the Disney movie], The Big Lebowski, Who Framed Roger Rabit?, Purple Rain, Face/Off.

And of course, Monty Python is awesome! :D

god, i hated that movie. i only watched it because a coworker found out i had never seen it, BOUGHT it for me, and told me to watch it. i just didn't get it. and didn't care. only thing it's useful for is so i can recognize all those stupid quotations everybody takes from it. things like the $5 milkshake.

Never seen Pulp Fiction but the music is good as a mobile ring tone, plus it brought the word and meaning of the word 'Gimp' to the masses

.....so it was influential anyway :P

About Narnia, I have NOT watched the movie, and I never will. The old series have charm, the movie does NOT.

That's just it. I wouldn't dare replace either the BBC movie or the new one with the books. However, both movies have their own charm in their own right.
