View Full Version : Extra fights based on donations

I glanced through the end of the dragon movement thread and noticed a bit about the increased forest fights..

I wanted to say something about this earlier but hadn't got around to it.

In short, this does seem to make leveling faster. The first 6-7 levels were practically a breeze and my experience bar was constantly blue. Most of the master challenges were started from truancy, not me looking for a challenge.

However after I reached level 7 or 8 and had almost maxed out my equipment the extra forest fights became costly and difficult. I've posted more about that in the other thread in the Village Square but don't want to bring that issue here. Right now I have a total of 27 forest fights with the donation buff. After the first 10 per day (with the forest fights being so difficult at my level) all buffs run out and I either have to spend the money to feed my mount, or run out of skill points to use to heal.

I think the donation bonus is a little too buff, and only awards the early levels but becomes a hassle in the upper levels. An example would be lacking the necessity for money after you max. out your weapon levels. You gain gold extremely fast during the 1-6 stages, have almost enough money to purchase the highest level weapons. Then the next levels are spent collecting a mass amount of money that becomes useless after a DK.

Thats for your strategy, but for me with a Dwarf I am lucky to get max weapons and armor by level 14. And it works. :)

You're under no obligation to use up all your forest fights lvangundy. If the extra turns are a burden, just don't use them, or use them to go slumming, or visit Tynan's Gym or Booger's Spa. But trust me, at some point you're going to be a High-DK player and you'll appreciate the extra fights a lot more.

:sits in the shadows as she begins to laugh quietly and simply shakes her head

tis a bad addiction if ye feel that because there are 'x' number of turns that ye must not depart the game until all are gone. i hath walked away from nearly 40 turns on more than one occasion because, it is only a game... not a mandate that they be played.

whether or not i play all my turns depends upon my mindset for a particular game day or dk cycle.

Ageed - while the argument can be made that you do need to use up forest fights in order to generate interest, we do provide opportunities for you to get rid of those extra fights without actually fighting - and that may be a useful strategy for fighting itself!

Often I log on and then have to log out after only using a few forest fights or none at all... it really racks up my DK days and does nothing to benefit me.

The problem with not using your FF's is that you don't gain experience. The trade off; no forest fight, no gold and no experience. You can't level and gain another DK if you don't fight. If you don't use any of those fights you basically are wasting your time by logging in for the day and potentially leaving yourself open for a PK.

I know there is no obligation to use all of the fights, 99% of the time I always leave 1-2 fights available in case I have to travel back and forth between towns for some strange reason.

It's not that I don't WANT to waste my fights, its just that Real Life often interferes with LOGD, and I have to waste my fights. Also, I occasionally just log on to check my YOM and don't have time to level.

Let me make a (hopefully) vague suggestion without (hopefully) actually revealing a game secret...

There's a place you can go to trade a few forest fights for something that could be a really nasty surprise to anyone who PvPs you that night.

Yeah, but can you do that as a Farmie?

Real life interferes with LOTGD?? Seems like someone doesn't have his priorities straight.

When I say that I mean I log on and then I have to go somewhere and I log off without using many FFs. Of course, my priorities never have been straight... :P
