Is there some place to deposit all the money you collect before you ****?
**** I had about 36,000 gold that I had to waste because ****. I'm OK with that actually, no complaint there.
What I would like to know is what to do with the money! Before I was depositing it into the Haberdashery, but last time I tried it said I had to deposit at least 10% of the current value. That's impossible! Maybe now that I made a racial switch I might be able to pull it off this ****.
The 10% rule for the haberdashery I basically see as a way to slow players from ****. If a player just keeps savings his money, he can upgrade his hat! ???

You could always gamble at doubling or tripling your money. If you win, you get a bigger hat; if you lose, you don't have to worry about the money disappearing when you ****.

You could talk to that Dag guy at the inn and put a large bounty on my head.... I don't mind - honestly! 8)

Yes, but no one is FORCING you to buy a hat. whats more important, a hat or killing the dragon (I know deimos will object to that saying hats are more important...)

My hat value is somewhere around 70,000 gold.
What's weird is I had about 37,000 gold last DK and I tried to upgrade but it wouldn't let me. To meet 10% I would only need 7,000 right?
Gambling is a good idea..

maybe you've typed in nothing and think it would send all money (just when you deposit money at the bank)

Don't forget that you can be charitable by giving to Heidi... I've done this a couple of times... Though it can be tedious with no mass donate function

I'm not looking forwards to donating my gold when it comes "time"... 150gp at a time... :P

Hats and bounties are there to keep the gold from being "wasted", but I don't think it would be good to let it carry over. Think about it - you'd start out with 36,000 gold at level one (in lvangundy's example), buy max equipment, and end that DK cycle with even more gold. Eventually gold earned from FFs would be obsolete - you'd have enough that the interest alone would pay for everything you needed. That's why your gold is lost when you kill the dragon. Just be glad you keep your gems!

The 10% upgrade requirement is so that I don't waste my time upgrading a hat every time you find another gold piece.
And well said, Pwyll.

That's fine, I understand why... It just means that I'll have one last upgrade of my hat and that'll be it. I seriously doubt I'll make this much gold again... :D

I manage to upgrade my hat by around 40k gold on average, any more. As you get to a higher level you can manage more gold each time through. It's a sort of natural balance based on DK. I wouldn't give up on your hat just because you can't make it this time through.

How about this: If player have some money in bank when he is trying to kill dragon and managed to kill dragon, then those money which was in bank will be transfered to special account and money in this special account can be only spend in Deimos' Haberdashery.
No "loss of money" and maybe fancier hat also after the DK.

Good idea. The leftover money could be rolled over into the Hat fund (401K/IRA LOL) optionally of course, and could collect in that fund.
Does anyone know what the hat does anyway?

Hats keep the sun out of your eyes and make you look cool, like Indiana Jones.
If they ever do anything more than that, I'm sure there will be no "hat rollover fund". :)

*looks at the neglected state of his hat* I think I may pay a bit more attention to this over my next few DKs... If I've got one might as well make it a good one
