If this is the wrong place for this, then please feel free to move it.
I've been considering the possibilities of a variant Green Dragon game called the Legend of the Star Dragon. Instead of being a fantasy game, it's a science-fiction game in the same basic style:
Villages are replaced by planets. Degolburg, rather than a planet, is a massive space station.
Elves, dwarves, trolls, felynes, and storm giants would be renamed, but would have the same basic abilities. For example, dwarves might be called Anastar (just something off the top of my head), and would be a species highly skilled in economics, gaining extra credits from space battles.
Weapons and armor are likewise replaced by more sci-fi gear.
Instead of searching the forest for trouble, players would elect to patrol space, meeting sci-fi creatures and encounters, and earning XP and credits. They might also acquire the occasional star crystal.
Mystical Powers become Psionics, Dark Arts would now be Hidden Secrets, and Thieving Skills remain pretty much the same.
Lonstrider and his band are now pirates.
When players die, they go to the clone vats, where Ramius, the clone master, might have them do a few favors in return for getting their regeneration processed more quickly.
Level titles would also be changed to reflect the setting.
And of course, the green dragon is replaced by the awesome star dragon!
Anyway, it's an idea. What do you folks think?
