So what has been the biggest PvP upset for you? Just recently I attacked a Villager 2 levels above me... and lost! I was absolutely shocked, especially considering I am the former equivalent of a god. I checked his stats later and found out that I had 5 more attack, 10 more defense (minus bodyguard debuff), and 96 more HP. Sure it was a high level fight, sure upsets happen more often then, but I had 29 more DKs!

Umm... I try and forget any suprise upsets, but the greatest win I ever had was against KageMusha. He probably had 30+ more DKs, and his att/def stats were disgusting. It was even a two level thrillseek for me, but somehow I won.
/me cheers for karma.

The worst upset I ever suffered was to someone 35 Dks below me. They had lower atta and def and just about the same hp. The RNG hates me :(

Something non-PvP-related: I logged in, "spawned" in the Boar's Head as usual, and after checking the various chats in Degolburg, traveled to Glorfindal. Then the RNG proceeded to waylay me until my gryphon buffs and skill uses were kaput. I was practically dry of buffs! Only then did it decide to let me go, when my life was totally in the red. All those extra fights are nice, but how am I supposed to defend myself without my gryphon? I feel so naked without 'em...

They really need to put some gold into wall improvement, don't they? :D (For those of you who don't know what I mean, there are supposedly walls guarding the roads to Degolburg that have fallen into disrepair, hence the creatures get through them.)
My worst luck with the RNG is always at Level 1, when I have attack and defense from DK, plus Tynan's, plus some extra HP, and I get sliced and diced by any Level 2 creature who gets in my way.

I think my biggest coup was still the time I beat Booger from 80DKs below him.
He was more than a little surprised, as was I...

There is a reason for that. I believe that either a huge gap was made between the stats of the level 1 and level 2 monsters, or it is due to the fact that small stat changes mean a lot more at lower levels, or a combination of the two. I personally believe it is the latter.

JCP answered my petition about that, and he said that stat changes are a bit more pronounced at lower levels, if I understood him correctly. He also said that the RNG plays a major role in that, but from what I have seen, it leans more to the more pronounced differences, but I could be wrong because of small sample size or something like that.

Waylaying of over 20 times... it was nice actually. :)

In answer to your question (let's see if I can explain this easily)
If a monster happens to be level 2 to your level 1, he literally has twice your strength (the RNG comes in here, so it might be more or less, but you get the idea). If you are level 15, and come up against a level 16, then the monster isn't twice as strong - he is only 6% stronger (1/16) not 100% stronger. Does this make sense... is it more obvious now? 8)

Yeah, that's what I thought. I didn't know if the stats of the monsters were different from "level 1- 1 attack/defense", "level 2- 2 attack/defense" and so on.

That's what I thought, too. A system where monsters might get like 1 attack/defense each level, where only their HP was variable. That's why I was so confused when I was getting destroyed by Level 2 monsters. I thought they were 2 Atk / 2 Def. Now I see they were probably 16 Atk / 16 Def.

With mount buffs level 2 monsters at level 1 can be easy, but definitely not for a farmie.

I would say my worst bout with the RNG was the time it took me 27 gems and some gold to bribe my way into the Inn. The odds of that are absurd.
However I was also killed by a monster once while traveling. That might not seem so bad unless you consider that I was level 13 or so, had the Black Unicorn, a buzz and almost all of my hitpoints. Before traveling I had been getting Flawless FF's over half the time while searching suicidally. It's hard to say what the odd's of that were, but I'm sure it was quite small.

Had something like that happen, also. Last DK, I was level 14 or 15, in the forest, thrillseeking, perfectly healed, Unicorn, buzzed, working with Tynan, and bowling with boulders. One FF, one round. I was hit three times and riposted twice and then died. His only scratch was a couple of pokes from Leroy's horn. I was shocked.

Who you calling a farmie? :D (flexes muscles, but nothing happens) Ooh, guess I still have some work to do. (Heads to Tynan's for even MORE training.)

Check my bio's latest entries. Dying every now and then is okay with me, but dying twice in one game day is a first! I don't even suicide on purpose, especially since we still don't have surplus turns from donations to fall back on!
... then again, maybe I do suicide on purpose, what with me using the search suicidally option every time late in my daily DK-to-DK life.
