View Full Version : After A few DK's past the change

All of my main reasons for playing have evaporated.
My playstyle got trashed.
It takes 10x as long to do days because of all the extra forrest fights rather than before when I would just suicide or threaten my way through the day.
It takes longer especially because I'm healing after every fight.
All the specials are pointless now.
There is nothing worth spending gems on anymore. Since I had way too many even with my discounted refund.
Aside from being an officer in my Clan I can't think of any reason to continue.
I hope you folks decide to change this back. Not only does it mean people are playing longer which must translate to a higher server load. It also took away the fun for me.
Anyways Peace out.

Sorry to hear that. We can't please everybody. Most people have been very positive about the change, and unfortunately we aren't going to take away the fun from a lot of people just to make one person happy.
The specials aren't useless unless you choose to look at them that way. They still provide a benefit for that DK. Just like everyone else. So, you are no worse off than you were before.
And, if you are finding the game no fun anymore, it's more than likely you have spent your dragon points in a less than ideal way.

I barely have to heal at all. :) Most of my turns are Flawless Fights.
It is how you spend your DPs that will make that change.
I, after losing my mount (not HP change related), am just really pissed that I need to save up 100+ gems to get a new mount, since my gems were all placed into charm. :P

Same here, actually, the % of flawless I get now are pretty high (I'll edit when I'm logged in).
So, heh, I'm enjoying it!

concider sellinga piece of jewlry to get the new mount, or using others to work your way back up.. i hear some of the midway ones are nice, if you've got certain conditions filled

I'm also sorry to hear this.
As for gameplay, though, I'm in your boat. I no longer can play every day the exact same way as I used to. I can't play each day like the one before or my next one. Is this frustrating? To me, no. It's exciting. Invigorating even.
The extra FFs are definately a hassle on my playing time, but I'm doing well in the game, so I take it as a necessary evil. I understand the healing bit. I get an awful amount of flawless fights (around 80% at level 5), but without my massive hp, those big hits that sometimes come from the forest are a bit riskier. I find the specials to be just as useful as before. They hold the same value in the new system as in the old; the two systems just happen to differ. Nothing says you must spend your gems now. Keep them until (in your mind) more worthwhile things came along. I liquidated my ~1400 gems quite fast, but I have a nice little reserve if I ever find myself in Sichae's position.
I'm glad you have a reason to stay. I'm very happy with my clan and consider it a very important aspect of my gameplay. I wouldn't hold out for a revert, though. But if you do decide to leave, at least you tried out the new system before passing judgment. I will give you props for that.

I'd agree with most of the points except for that specials are still useful...
I've already had a large percentage of my total fights between each DK flawless, so the change simply increased that rate to the point where it's ridiculous(75.9% of all fights between my 11th and 12th DK as flawless, compared to an average of about 60% flawless fights per DK for previous ones).
I know that I'm a shrimp compared to the more senior players, but I also don't see much positive aspects of the change.
The flawless fights became more of a nuisance than something good... I'd rather use the forest fights up fast and earn interest gold than die with 10 FF's remaining due to RNG blitz.
Not that I'd quit or anything though. I've yet to experience everything, so I'll stick around and see what's in store for me.

The only real change for me has been a lot more flawless FFs.
I can't believe anyone still goes into the mines - there is<a game secret> , especially now that gems are - to quote JCP elsewhere in the forum - "not that special anymore" (!)Ed:Nightwind

Came back for a DK just to see how things had gotten. Still think the lethal specials are pointless. I use to do all the ones that gave you permenant hp/good shot at gems. I think PVP is now totally /ran and no skill but I killed a few people to DK. The new special bounty with the bandits was fun increasing the hp on gems was fun. Going through the turns still took 10 times as long, though toned down the drinking for turns thing so I don't think you can get neverending days. Still in this iteration gold is pointless because of low healing costs, I think I was maxed at level 5 or 6.
So with gold and gems not being special, the skill element of pvp taken away and the uselessness of all of the old fun specials especially my favorite stonehenge, it feels monotonous.
Still hoping for the HP changes to be reverted and pvp to be more about skill in selecting targets then in luck. I'll keep checking back.

I am having a ball.I get pounded more often so have to think and fight..a lot of the specials now have an added edge and the game has definitely taken on a new dimension for me.
I was getting complacent...now I know that, to coin a phrase, out there in the forest, the Fool Killer is waiting for me..
Six more DK's to godhood and the RNG has decided it doesn't like me.
Fine.
I never give up.

heh I can't imagine getting close to 80% flawless fights I think on average I get about 20%. I must be doing it wrong!

Nightwind, there was no reason to edit my post - what you can lose in the mines has been mentioned in the forum many times, even by JCP himself - it's hardly a game secret.

Ok, the edit was a while ago.
Also, some things don't have to be brought up at every given opportunity just because you can, or someone else has, better safe than sorry, hm? Thats the way we have to see it, when we are looking at the posts.
While someone else may not have edited your post like that (I didn't see the original), there are other ways of voicing any concerns you have, you can privately message any boss-like peoples such as JCP or Saucy (or we lesser staffies can pass on a concern), it'll usually get looked at a little more, not possibly looked over like a message in the forums!

Aye - I have a LOT more turns now due to flawless fights, but that helps me since I don't PvP - and I get killed every night and lose a lot of experience. Yes it does eat up a lot of my day now, but I can thrillseek or search suicidally and that lessens the flawless fights a lot. I never did do many of the specials that could go either way because usually it went the bad way, and when I started playing the game was a lot harder. I still don't. I do like the way they have increased the number of temporary points you can purchase/get per visit/special. I can get many extra hitpoints that way. I never had tha tmany extra hitpoints before the chnage, so I haven't really felt the change all that much except I redid my DPs and made myself quite powerful - in the forest. I still die in my sleep nightly hehehe.
If you have more than 10 DKs Amrothe, maybe you can visit Heidi and redo yourself - or use your gems to experiment with different mounts. I have been having fun with the old riddle gnome who has been around from the get go - he lightens my load on occasion. I beat him today.

well on the how I react to game changes thread I'd like to give a big ++ to limiting flawless fights. One of the reasons I quit for so long was that hundreds of fights just was boring and annoying due to low hp flawless fights.
I have 37DK at the moment.
Going to give it a try again for a bit I really miss pvping, but now its not worth spending the gems every DK to play.

You might want to try being a Felyne. If you have a lot of fights you will see how fast the gems stack up.

Scarily enough I'm trying to avoid gems now and waste them. I don't really want to save up for anything. I've been being charming and hp orientated. Right now because of some jewlery I treat having too many gems as the same as mining.
I have a feeling this will change when I move into ettile country for a while at least, but right now I am very happy with my gryphon.
Without constantly fueling gems into perm hp I still feel lost.
How about something like buying extra turns for your mount or increasing your favor.

It's still challenging, if you don't like it don't continue, no one is forcing you.

Um, Julietta, if you were to read the whole topic, you would have seen that he had already changed his opinion. Please do this in the future.
