Fisrt, I'm sorry if this have been requested before but I could not find any post related to this.
What I would like to see is items looted from monsters.
I know it is not maybe part of this game but it sure could be.
You could sell them, trade them to other players and of course use them.
There could be specific market place to trade items to other players, and some unique items needed to slay some creature or open some mystical door.
I know these are not easy to make but at least I would like to see some stuff looted from monsters.
Please don't flame me because this, it's just an idea nothing else.

Thank you for looking first for any related subjects, I've not seen it brought up before. :)
We kinda do loot things, gold and gems, what other items do you have in mind? Be careful, first, that nothing you earn can be traded to another player and aid them in their quest, that's a bit of a no-no. Perhaps something non game help-ish would work.
Any ideas?

I absolutely love the idea. I don't really have the knowhow to do the market type thing though, so perhaps I can find out how involved it would be.

What i mean you could find weapon from monster, or new armor. Heck, you could even find something special from monsters.
I know this is not easy task to be done.
And there could be some other items forsale then just weapons and armors.
Example: You buy a rope. You go to forest, special encounter BAM! You are at the canyon.
What will you do.
A. Use rope you bought
B. Try to climb other side
Just an idea, and no, I did not find anything about this. If I have been half blind and it lurks somewhere here please just link it to me :D

I like this idea actually, having some items for sale (the non game helping ones?) and some you can keep/use.
Well, lets hope that Saucy can research this a little more and see if it's doable.
Anyone have ideas for items, such as the weapon/armour, rope, etc? We may as well follow the idea until we're told the news!

What about a towel? its allways handy and would be much more fun for everyone who read Hitchhikers Guide :) It could somehow help when you encounter the Hitchhikers Guide in the forest :D

It opens up a whole new dimension to the game, especially if there is a player-driven economy. I think if this is implemented that items should only be sold and bought from NPCs.
An inventory system is something that has been discussed as a potential future addition to the game.
Alas, MightyE hasn't had enough time to work on any such projects for some time.

Nor really has Moonchilde (aka me :))
And yes, I know that there are at least two different item systems which have been written (one was on Dragonprime, the other written by someone else and sent to me on my private test-game).. I haven't had time to really evaluate them, and possibly merge them and see if they suit what we want to do or if they'd be horribly overbalancing in some way or what.. The more complex a system is the more likely it will have some unintended effect that unbalances things greatly.

You know, one thing that might not be too difficult to do in relation to this would be some method of aquiring "Trophies" of some sort.
Like, defeat Cerberus and gain a Cerberus trophy, for instance. Or the "Bare Hands Trophy" for going through a whole game with nothing but your fists. Or maybe even a few trophies for some of Drunick's more dangerous quests.
They wouldn't have any real in-game use, but it'd be an easy way to keep tabs on the accomplishments of an individual player other than just "# Of Dragon Kills."

I like that idea. Another badge of honor for you bio page.

The idea of opening up a trading marketplace for different players would be a really neat idea, but there would have to be good measures taken to ensure that people wouldn't be able to unfairly trade things to and from thier alternate characters. I'm not sure if this could be done, so I suppose that idea's moot. Nonetheless, I still like the ideas of items beyond gems, gold, one piece of armor, and one item of weaponry.

Well, on central, there is the rule that your alts aren't allowed to interact. That doesn't *stop* them from interacting (as in code that checks IPs), but it makes it a bannable offense if one is caught doing it.

The people who farm gold on eo and other mmorpg don't interact either, but therhe are compnies that resell it for millions of real life dolars a year... if things can transfer from one peron to another at all, things get risky

The second you said that, a horrible plan about LotGD finances entered my mind.
Good thing I'm too ethical for all that.
To be clear, a "item system" and a "players can sell/trade items system" are two different things. One has a much better chance of getting added than the other.

May I add my dos sentavos into this? I want to know if the old LORD game even had an economic system going on, because if it didn't then can we just skip this feature? One of the things why I like LOGD so much is because of its simplicity.
While LORD was the initial inspiration for the game, I don't think that we are restricting our development in order to replicate LORD.
We do plan on adding things and the game will get more complex as a result.
Hopefully things won't get prohibitively complicated. We do try to make some of the more complex things modular, such as the cities, which are very helpful on a larger server and a detriment on smaller servers.
But there will be some things that won't be so easy to turn off.

Using my handy-dandy copy of LORD as a reference, I can tell you that a base install of the game is fairly close, feature-wise, to Wen (+ an Inn).
So, no inventory. I did play on a few sites where there were inventory systems added via IGMs (In Game Modules), accessed by the Other Places option. I have no idea how well that system worked, just that it did. That system could only be used in these Other Places, though. The core of the game completely ignored it.

I like the idea of Trophies, as the "Ony with my fists" one or things like that... and about the monsters looting things, maybe they could be temporal buffs, like a flawless with someone two levels higher than you could give a +1 for "X" turns, or you found a "rabitt leg" (in Spain, it means good luck, just in case it's a local folklore ;)) and have more chances of receiving more gold or gems (or nice random events)...

:uses the button to become a super-duper 1337 (elite) master of LOGD.
:updates his profile to include the some 283,189,768 Dragon Kills he accumulated.
:makes a bot to make sure he stays on top.
(Ya cheaters, play the game the way it was meant to be played. )

if you guys look at *snip* there is a similar feature to this, there is a Backpack which you buy and then monsters drop certain items. They can be sold at a drop shop for gold, gems, or favor depending on the item. lately some changes have been made and now some items can be used in an "alchemy" skill or used for special events in the village like trapping the farie in a bubble etc
