View Full Version : Obscene websites in profiles

I realize that I am just wasting my time, since only legitimate users of this message board are going to read this, but let's be all "get it in writing" about things.

Every once in a while, I get a PM about some recent member having a link to an obscene website. Not always the same one, and there's usually no pattern to email addresses or anything (though when there is a pattern, I try to add it to the filter to block them).

These "members" have 0 posts and are just trying to get their indexing scores up by having more references to their websites.

When I find them, I delete these accounts immediately and without warning.

But I can't spend time checking the member list every day, and I don't want to activate the anti-bot registration measures again - there are more people with poor vision who get blocked by that than there are bot sign ups.

I just wanted everyone to be aware of the situation: that we know it happens, and how to deal with it - we just can't deal with it on a 24/7 basis.

Im just wondering how i can help. Videogames have enough critics without idiots posting links to porn sites in the middle of degolburg

JCP was talking about obscene links in forum profiles. If you want to help in game, that's great too. Check out the "If you hate idiots and don't want to see the place go bad" thread in the village square and offer there, that would be a more appropriate place.

This was intended as an announcement thread, so instead of having a bunch of people post on it....
