I realize that I am just wasting my time, since only legitimate users of this message board are going to read this, but let's be all "get it in writing" about things.
Every once in a while, I get a PM about some recent member having a link to an obscene website. Not always the same one, and there's usually no pattern to email addresses or anything (though when there is a pattern, I try to add it to the filter to block them).
These "members" have 0 posts and are just trying to get their indexing scores up by having more references to their websites.
When I find them, I delete these accounts immediately and without warning.
But I can't spend time checking the member list every day, and I don't want to activate the anti-bot registration measures again - there are more people with poor vision who get blocked by that than there are bot sign ups.
I just wanted everyone to be aware of the situation: that we know it happens, and how to deal with it - we just can't deal with it on a 24/7 basis.
