This isn't an official endorsement, but we got an errant donation from this site and it looks very professionally done.

The setting is supposedly post-apocalyptic and the game has been removed from the fantasy setting, so it should be different from the majority of the LotGD sites out there.

The owner is an author who just published a book, and modified LotGD to present his world as an RPG game.

No, I haven't played it, but I've come across a LOT of sites running the LotGD code and this one looked good enough to mention.

This one does seem nice. Signed up, but may not play. You just said "Post-apocalyptic" which perked my little web-ears up. Thought maybe I had some competition for Scorched Arcadia. ;)

Interestingly, the errant donator had no idea what LoGD was =)

I wanted to get in here sooner to post a thanks for making this thread and then I decided that I wanted to make it better, first. Well, one thing led to another and it was never quite good enough. Well, I think it is 'better' enough now to warrant me coming in here now and saying a word more about it.

The game is located at www.birthpangs.com/rpg (http://www.birthpangs.com/rpg)

It is based on my series, Birth Pangs, the first book of which, "Fidelis" is already out and available. I've worked pretty hard on it and I think you'll agree, even if you saw it before, that its come a long way from the stock green dragon template. I hereby thank the green dragon community for helping me get this far in the first place, and invite folks to poke around the Birth Pangs world.

Dang, I see from the FAQ for this section that I'm obligated to give a bit more info... Well, lessee..

6 game days per day.
5 PVP No level limits on who you can slay.
Deprecated importance of 'dragon capture' (I call it 'bandit capture')
Players can arrest other players and put them in jail or send them to the shades.
Cities have defensive fortifications which can be overthrown.
Cities have tolls controlled by city overlords, thus disallowing access, etc.

Basically, its geared so that you can try to take over the world if you want- and others can try to stop you. That's all. ;)

Thanks for the extra info. In the case of Birthpangs players can't really fairly compare it to LoGD because it's a different game. So I would encourage everyone to give it a go because we need lots of new games instead of more clones and this site has *so* much work put into it, it's fantastic. :D

...interesting idea, i must say-- i'm heading over to create a character right now, and may edit this post in a little while with an impartial review...

...this is an incredibly detailed and deeply-thought out game, and having tried it out (and failed miserably, just in case anyone wants to know-- i died twice, and still haven't killed anything)... now, i kinda want to read the book...

Well, you went and attacked a city! That can't be a good idea. ;) What you were looking for is the 'City Outskirts.' They may or may not be available in a given city, but generally speaking if you establish citizenship in a city the Outskirts will appear.

You're better off returning to Cairo and establishing citizenship there until you get your feet firmly planted. (also, just a tip- I suggest making your dough via trading between cities rather than in the outskirts).

Possibly you got confused when coming to Vandalia and saw the city's defenses and the toll booth. Choosing the toll booth would have given you access to the city without trying to overthrow the overlord (the overlord of that particular city, I might add, is yours truly ;) )

heh, well i thought it was the only way to get into the town, rather than pay the bribe to get through the gates... but i must not have looked hard enough, because when i resurrected i woke up in the town and swore allegiance to it. so i'll have to head back and try again, i think-- there is more than a little bit of lust for world domination in every man...

Zegmorien snaps his finger (No Really! Which looks odd but it sounds just like two fingers snapping lol) and says, "Yeah thats the site I saw, apparently in beta, a few months ago. The idea gave me motivation to start writing my own story I've been dreaming and sketching about for the past seven years or so. LOTGD is a great medium to bring a story to life and to the reader. I applaud you for carrying it out to full development Birthpangs. May it bring you great success!"
