this isn't a game code suggestion but how about revamping the lotgd servers list. have categories: language, style (mod heavy, minimal, custom theme, etc.), population (several ranges) and a way to sort/filter the entire list.

I think that would depend on the admins supplying that information - MightyE no longer has a lot of time to devote to LoGD (read: five minutes per week) so he wouldn't be the one researching and categorising them. =/

Right now they are ordered by the version of the code, with some versions intentionally pushed to the bottom, mainly obsolete versions. Surprisingly, most admins choose NOT to provide any useful information in their description. A bit silly really! I suppose we can just remember that the ones who do are likely to get more visitors.

(In regards to population, we have had instances of admins inflating the figures. In fact many set their characters to never expire so that the place looks as if it has a lot of members. I think this is stupid - it does not help their game rank higher on the list, and the players join a server with "2000 members" only to discover that 1990 of them haven't been online for a month.)

well maybe not population then, but if someone could make a layout allowing sorting and filtering and request that the admins on those servers show their strongest point. (mod or lack thereof that they consider central to their game idea).

PS. why does it say I might be a bot? can I change that in my CP?

Too few posts. ;)

Changing the layout / information in the server listing is unlikely to happen. As Lauri said: MightyE doesn't have the time. Dragonprime doesn't have the access to the server process.

It would also require every server to update the listing script so they transmit the information in the new format.

bumping an old thread to keep others from replying to a bot, or clicking on its link.

The phrase of the month has been be nice to newbies, and now we want to permaban them on the first go?Plenty of good users broke the rules, unwittingly, when they first came here. Myself inclusive. I think its a ridiculous rule.
