I don´t know if this is off-topic, but at least it´s related ;-)
I started a little Telnet-BBS where u can play the origin of lotgd.
Legend of the Red Dragon by Seth Robinson.
At this time it´s only the limited Demo-Version, but i registered it at gameport yesterday, so it should be unlimited soon.
also there is Planets T.E.O.S. and Global War :o)
telnet://binse.mine.nu

Nice. I did this a while back, but never got anyone to join in. So good luck with that.

Ok - this may sound stupid - but how do you Telnet or BBS? I have always wanted to try LoRD.

Nomad tried to teach me once ages ago, it seemed really.... odd  I think you need to be of a 'technical computer-ing' mind set, it was all about commands and prompts and um... stuff?

It never seemed to be that way for me, though, but I guess it's because I grew up with it. If you've played LotGD with the keyboard shortcuts, you're already on the right track, though.
There's a telnet program... somewhere... not sure where, though. :P

On a mac:
Open Terminal (/Applications/Utilities)
At the prompt, type:
telnet <server>

Ah! So I open a command (DOS) prompt and type telnet <server> in?
The computer models I've been working with lately have all been DOS based - no GUI. And in LotGD I use the keyboard shortcuts a LOT - but mouse a lot too. I used to keyboard EQ but have lately started to be overly dependent on point-and-click.

I played legend of the red dragon and nethack on
telnet://binse.mine.nu
sweet bbs. Just wish I could figure out how to make it work with putty. I'll go through the documentation I guess...or download mtelnet, I hate using windows pre-installed software.
If anyone is interested in bbs you can go to http://www.dmine.com/telnet/
Using bbs you can download files, chat, plays games like tetris and many other things and the bbs corner (link above) lists a bunch of telnet bbs's you can connect to.

Shiq, if nothing else, Q knows how to do this. I just can't for the life of me find the old telnet terminal.
Hmmm... unless... try 'telnet' in the "run" window :-P

mmmmm... Baren Realms Elite (and Solar Realms elite) ...
god does it mean I'm old when I used to play LoRD on a 2400 baud modem that cost $400 to get on my 286 12mhz machine?

On a windows box, hit your Start Menu, then Run.. type in Telnet when the little black box opens. To reach Hub BBS (which has 2 Legend of the Red Dragon games), you will type: o hubbbs.com and then sit back while you connect.
My screen looks like this:

Once you connect, make yourself an account (standard practice on BBS's - don't worry, only ops can see them, and I only have 1 other op.). The free games on Hub are in the Free Play Zone. Enjoy!
