Does anyone have a good strategy for where to assign points after defeating the dragon? Forest fights seems like a waste, as do max HPs (just more money to heal). It would seem that attack and defense are the only two options that make any long term sense. Is one of these significantly more beneficial than the other? Should I keep them balanced? Am I way off in my thinking? Let me know what you think...

Plenty of folks around here have strategies. There are some threads you could read that would tell you more about it, but I'm not that much of a strategical person. Do some thread searching and you'll probably find some ideas.

A lot of it depends on if you want to try to take on everyone in PvP. There are others that turn PvP off- and then using points for more forest fights makes sense. And lastly- what ever way you decide to build your character find a creature that matches it well. There is a match for everything. High HP, high FFs, high attack, high defense.

I'm one who HAS been in for the long term, AND I have many many points in FFs. I used to have PvP on, but never killed anyone. My strategy works whether I have it on or off, so it's all good.
Fred and Valancy are right - it's all up to you. I know one player who has most of his points in HP - he seems ok with life. But that's not for me. Sounds like you have made up your mind already though. Sink your points into whichever you choose and have at it!
Good hunting!

It's also worth noting that the forest creatures change in reaction to how you spend your points. I'd tell you more, but then i'd have to kill you, and i don't get any dragon points for that.

I found a simple ratio early on and have stuck to it ever since. It's not quite good enough to earn me a 2-day DK, though maybe I'll pull it off some day. However, it seems to fit my playing style.

I'll post it as a spoiler to be safe: If you want to get DK's in fewer days, get forest fights. If you want to bash face in PvP, get HP/attack/defense. Attack and defense are fairly useful in the forest, but HP is not.

Erh..
Isn't it just a selected "few" forest creatures that has stats depending on your hp/att/def? Just thinking...
Also: You won't get anywhere without adding SOME points into HP - and if you want to do somewhat frequent 3 day kills you will have to spend poins into FFs (about 5 should be enough). Then you just dump the rest in att/def - just like you said. You just have to choose which one now, ennit?

Nope, all monsters (this includes special events and masters, but not PvP) receive stat bonuses in proportion to your total difference in stats from normal.
