Another idea to get the gems back in the game (getting them out of the characters pockets and back into the game's "economy")
Well, I think that we all want people not attacking us whilst sleeping at the Inn so why not ensuring this by making a new option available. Instead of having only the option of going to a room to sleep, you could talk to Darnick and go to the vault. This would cost different sums of gems. For example : a character with level 1 to 3 would have to pay 1 gem a character with level 4 to 6 would have to pay 2 gems a character with level 7 to 9 would have to pay 3 gems a character with level 10 to 12 would have to pay 4 gems finally characters with levels 13 to 15 would have to pay 5 gems. The only way a character could then attack you whilst you sleep would be for them to dish out twice the amount of gems your character had to spend. Also, not only would a competitor have to go through one bodyguard but two which will make killing someone in the vault quite hard to do. BUT, if ever a character is lucky enough and actually do kill someone sleeping in the vault, the character could for example instead of only getting xp from the character he killed, also get an extra buff for the rest of his title, or a weapon and/or defense upgrade. Something nice would be that even if you could be a listing of the warriors in the land and so get to see where they are like now, players in the vault would not show their level, in which way, if ever you want to kill someone and the level is not one you can reach, well, too bad, you can get 50% of your gems back only if you get to kill Durnick (whom is a level above your character) and two of his bodyguards. I know this sounds intricate but it would most certainly bring in some fun,mystery and gems back in the game. Please comment.

The problem of having the Inn too weak is also here somewhere.... *is too lazy to see which thread*
Most of the ideas involve paying for variable protection and for the space to be limited in any new area.... However, I personally am finding the Inn fights more challenging with just the new Bodyguards, so don't make it impossible fer the High Titles to advance, eh?

Maybe the balance changes as you gain DK's, but after playing for about a month, I'm starting to think that the whole PvP killing in the Inn is really not a problem at all, and doesn't really need any change. I get killed in the Inn just about every night, but it's just not a big deal. Every now and then I'll win the first fight, and lose the second, in which case I come out way ahead, but even if not, losing 1% of your experience just isn't a big deal. Really, since people winning the fight get so much more than that, it would actually pay off a great deal if two people of similar strength were to deliberately take turns killing one another...using the Inn advantage to make sure they won the fight. Log right back on, and teh other person goes to the Inn. Each time the pair comes out ahead by 9%. You could get to level 15 in an hour, I bet. Hmm. Possible Exploit. Somebody want to try it...coordinating over a cell phone and see how well it works? Lady Pirotess |

You gain and lose different amounts of experience depending on what the server configurations are... on DragonCat its a loss of only 1%, on Central its 5%...
And I'm not sure what you're proposing or how it would work..... think 3 PVP per day and resurrections arn't unlimited... |

I think you're right. I don't think it would. When the attacker in a PvP fight loses, they lose 15%, not 1% or 5%, so for it to work as an exploit the Inn advantage would have to be to the benefit of the attacker rather than the defender, so that they would each lose 1% (or 5%) for each time they gained 10% And as you say, PvP per day is limited. Since PvP fights are reset when you get ressurected, but logging on after being killed by a player doesn't count towards your ressurection limit, so you could do it as many times as you wanted. (Unless I'm mistaken on that account.) But either way...since coming back after a PvP death doesn't count as ressurection...you wouldn't get your PvP allowance restored. I guess you could still do it three times per day, plus an extra three if you had Ramius bring you back...but again, with the 15% loss to the attacker it would definately be a losing proposal. There is one problem with this proposal, and that is the fact that it benefits campers more than active players. You have better chances of hoping that someone will attack you than by attacking others. Which is a problem since higher ups will need to attack, and they already take many more chances and pay much more than the ones being attacked. The experience loss in getting killed can be won back in a few forest fights, whereas you don't stand a 100% chance of gaining your lost experience from attacking someone if you get resurrected afterwards.
Add to that the fact that PvP fights after a resurrection are now reduced... You'll see the picture probably... And no pirotess, the system you proposed would definitely NOT work. You would have to load up on favor first, meaning a 15% loss of experience for each time you killed yourself to gather the favor necessary, you'd then have to gather experience again.. All in all, it's much easier to attack 3 people above your level each day to get experience. |
