Let me start by saying that I think the companion system is pretty cool. Unfortunately, I think it needs a ton of tweaking before it's ready for full release. I have three major suggestions:
1) Allow us to choose tactics with our companion. The way I think this could be implemented would be on the sidebar below your specialty. So you could have "Withdraw Companion" "Withdraw Player" and maybe one or two other tactics? Defensive versus offensive strategy? 2) Change how the combat works with companions. Currently you attack, the creature attacks you, your companion attacks, and then the creature attacks your companion. Thus the creature gets twice as many attacks as you do, which I find kinda unfair. Maybe make it so its more likely that you encounter multiple monsters when you have a companion, but I feel that giving the creature two attacks per go is not an ideal solution. 3) Would it be possible to heal the companion from the Healers Hut? And, on a related note, it would be better if you could change the companion's HP bar so it's like the player's with green damage, then yellow damage, and finally red. Basically, I'd day it's a pretty sweet innovation, but it could be even better with a little more work. Cheers. - EH |

Some great suggestions in there, EH. I'll make sure the mastermind behind the Companions feature sees your comments and we'll see what can be done in the future.
It's unlikely that much of that will be done in our impending release, but work won't stop after that.

Ok I tested out the companions as well to see how they behaved. Quite a nifty addition Tal and coders! BUT - I got flashbacks of the first time I played Diablo 2 and got my first helper NPC. The poor thing kept dying on me because a. there was no way to heal her, or b. I was too n00bish to figure out how to heal her. Cause unlike mounts, they get beat up too! They do fight back, but eventually they run out of health and Poof! Ramius gets his wings - or something like that.
Would it be possible to have them healed from the healer's hut - at additional cost of course... Or be able to heal them at their camp - for a price of course. Does the Grassy Knoll refresh your companion as it would a mount? OOOOH - more testing!! I gotta find that out! You can refresh your mount, for a price - why not your companion?

XChrisX gets the kudos for the companions - I only get credit through association
Healing at healers hut - yes, I agree that should be included, or something should be available in the forest. Healing at their camp - you can already heal them in their camp, although you will find some companions simply can't be healed at all. Healing at the grassy field - I agree - I suspect that will find it's way into the code sooner rather than later.

Aha - that may be why I did not see the option. I will check more carefully next time. I thought you guys would have put that option in there! Seemed logical. Thanks for the info - I shall be more observant in the future.
