Default Seattle Roast

Alright, who's up for a Seattle dragonroast? I heard a rumor that there might be one, but there's tricks involved... who is going to plan it, where is it going to be, specifically, and so forth.

So first, in hopes to get things moving, who is interested in having one, and if so, when are preferable date ranges? (Noting that I plan to be going to school in August, so for me, that is better)

Summer - June through July is best for me. August might not be so good for me this year - have FL friends coming for a wedding. Don't know dates yet, and in June I am trying to sneak off to CO to see my aunt and uncle.

I can prolly get away with sneaking off for a weekend - my advisor keeps a tight rein on us RAs in summer.

"dragon roasts" are when members of LotGD get together in actual human person. there have been two official ones, one in New Jersey at JCP's house, and one in Australia; there have also been several unofficial ones, which have been me, Fionnabhair, and Hypatia, plus a couple of occasional other people, hanging out twice a year.
and i came up with the name, to answer that question.

Woot! Okay... so... next question... what does one typically do to prepare for a roast?

have food and places to stay. the first one, we hung out at JCP's, barbecued, and told stories. later ones involved wandering around philadelphia; others involved sitting around, playing video games, and occasional drinking, for those who were into that. the first one was mostly local people, although i put up one person. if you don't have space or don't want to put people up, you may want to provide hotel information.
if it's your first time meeting people from the internets, you may want to have it in a nice neutral location, or at least one that's easy to find. while i've met some incredibly wonderful people through the internets, people who have long since gone from "person from the internets" to "actual real life friend" to, in some cases, more than that, there are some creepy weirdos out there, and maybe you don't want them to know where you live?
make sure at least one person has a camera. you'll want at least a group picture.
the host should have a cellphone, or be near a landline, that everyone coming has the number for.
try and keep the activities cheap, if possible. if you're hosting, i'm afraid to say, you'll probably make an outlay of cash for food and drink that you won't recoup. i've had friends from other internet sites throw parties and end up hundreds of dollars in the hole.
that's all i can think of at the moment.
