Seattle Roast

After having lunch at this great little sandwich place at the Market and then wandering around the various shops, we headed off to a coffee shop (amazingly, *not* a Starbucks) to relax and enjoy a caffeinated pick-me-up. On the way, we saw this store. Which, of course, we were obligated to check out.


At the coffee shop, Qwyxzl rang up our honourary attendees Angul and Hypatia and we played pass-the-phone-around-and-guess-who-you're-speaking-to. Meanwhile, Talisman had to continually roll his fate against Stonehenge. Though he died several times, he managed to call in a number of Favours with Ramius and escaped moderately unscathed.


After hanging out at the coffee shop for a while, we headed back to the Seattle Center to retrieve our vehicles and wander around the area a bit. There's a lot of artwork around the place - here's something abstract at the base of the Space Needle.


We then considered catching a showing of The Dark Knight at the nearby IMAX theater, but when we got there, we found out it was sold out until Tuesday. Undaunted, I took a picture of this whale tail next to the theater's ticket booth.

Next, we headed over to the singing/dancing fountain. Kendaer explained that it sprays in time according to the music being played. Though it's primary purpose seems to be to drench people who venture too close.


We walked around to the other side of the fountain to get this cool shot of it with the needle in the background.


And finally, the reveal! Here's the obligatory group shot of us by the fountain. Left-to-right, it's me, Elessa, Talisman, Shiqra, Kendaer, and Qwyxzl. X-Kal took the picture.


After that, we headed to an Irish pub for dinner and then it was over all too soon. The next day, we met one last time to have a farewell breakfast and part ways. I think it pretty much goes without saying that fun was had by all and I, for one, can't wait until the next one!

..add wow, no one looks like what I thought they would! Blarg especially, being a drunkard and all :P If I make the comment I was thinking it might sound wierd, so I won't. But I still have this wierd thing on the internet, I never expect anyone to not look at least a bit like me for some reason. I am odd though.

Awesome post Blarg!! You summed it up perfectly. Great photos!

I also want to thank MightyE for deciding to run with his crazy idea, and Kendaer for helping him bring it to fruition. Without their hard work, and the work of all the early Mods, coders, etc I would never have met these awesome people in game and hopped a plane to Seattle to go meet them in RL. I had a wonderful time, and I too cannot wait for the next one!!

The tall black building is the Columbia Center - it used to be the Seafirst building, then Bank of America. It's the tallest building in Seattle, and houses an observation deck that far exceeds what you can see in the Space needle. The one bummer - the observation deck lacks North-facing windows.

To the left is Key Tower (formerly occupied by Key Bank), which is now owned by the city - I've seen that City Light has offices there - don't ask me what else it has.

Further left is Two Union Square, the second tallest building in Seattle. Yup, you can drive underneath it.

Yup, I'd like to thank MightyE, kendaer and the staff for starting this game up - I really feel at home here. And I especially thank SaucyWench and JCP for their limitless patience in putting up with my noobish antics when I first started - I must have been a handful

Hehehehe - you had me puzzled for a sec Mess - until I realized that of all of them, we're the only two you really know. Elessa and Tal were regulars on Central before you started, Kendaer made Dragoncat after Central, and Blarg mainly plays there now.

It was an awesome time. I am putting planning another one on my to do list. If I start now I MIGHT just be able to find the time to get it done by next summer :P Everyone was fun, and has been said it was cool to sit around and chat face to face. A weekend was definitely too short. You guys think that you can all take a week off next year?
