1) Could I get a copy of that background image from you, if all is good and legal for that to happen?
2) What OS is that? It looks like a linux distro of some sort... I'm tempted to say gnome, but I'm not so familiar with Linux, quite yet.

(1) Hmm.. 'Legal'? Well, I got it from a C&H fan site a looong time ago. I think it falls under fair use, but I wouldn't know for sure.

(2) It's actually Windows 2000 underneath. I've been using the LiteStep shell replacement for Windows since ... Win95, I think. Basically, it's a lookalike of the AfterStep windows manager for X-Windows, which itself was a lookalike of NextStep.

I highly recommend LiteStep, but it's not for the faint of heart as its configuration can be an exercise in frustration if you're not used to the 'Linux-way' of tweaking config files everywhere. But if you're up to the challenge, it's great fun. IMO, of course.

if you have a Windows-based machine, use the PrintScreen button that you've never ever used before to get a screenshot. paste it into a graphics program -- even MS Paint if you have to -- and save it (paint will save it as a BMP; you'll have to find a way to convert it to a .gif or a .jpeg). then upload it to yr favorite image host (imageshack, photobucket, etc.) and post the link here.

Convert it? MS Paint will let you save it as a gif, jpg or png, as well as a few others. Although, they tend to come out grainy if you save it as a gif or jpg there.

huh. shows you how long it's been since i've used paint! back in my day it would only save as a .bmp. uphill. both ways. in the snow.
