Mounts and Killing the Dragon

I'm aware that I might not get a concrete answer if this is a secret of the game, but I'll ask anyway:

After I kill the dragon, what will happen to my mount?

As you can imagine, I would play a different strategy depending on the answer to that question.

Depends, it might be a feature of your server (though I have never owned a fairy, so maybe it got scared?) which one do you play on?
